TOP TEN ARTISTS NOT TO MISS AT WHAT THE FESTIVAL!? 2014 via STYLSS
The 3rd Annual WHAT THE FESTIVAL!? is coming up in a few weeks here in Oregon and STYLSS affiliates have hand selected the top 10 (& more..) artists we would recommend not missing out on. Besides the West Coast’s largest disco ball & epic pool party, this year’s WTF line-up is stacked full of fresh faces & it was hard for us to narrow it down to just these ten:
CASHMERE CAT:
“He’s a DMC World Champ, Has production credit for Ludacris, Wiz Khalifa, Jeremih, & quality releases on both LuckyMe & Pelican Fly. Cashmere Cat is definitely one of the nicest cats in the game right now & there is no doubt he will kill it at WTF. Do not miss him.” -QUARRY
Cashmerecat – Mirrormaru
Cashmerecat – Do-you-cashmere-cat-remix
GIRAFFAGE:
“Bay Area native Giraffage is sure to bring a well balanced diet of feminine classics along with a lush modern spice. A collection of tear jerking, thick wasted, hard hitting tracks to set that oh so right kind of vibe. Will not disappoint at WTF.” -Hew
Giraffage – Money
Giraffage – Close-2-me
MK:
“There is a good chance that MK is the most important artist on the What The Festival line up. Yes he plays house. Yes house is back in now. HOWEVER, MK was part of a select few who actually DEVELOPED the sound the very first time around. His first billboard #1 dance track came in 1994. Coming up in good company with Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and Carl Craig (to name a few), MK’s technical dj skills match his tremendous prowess in the studio. For one hour of WTF, there will be no gimmicks; there will be no laser sounds, no V’s used for A’s, there will be no whomp, no west coast sound…. just pure unadulterated house music. For some of us, this may be as close to church as we’ll ever get.“ -Tyler Tastemaker
Marckinchen – Sam-smith-money-on-my-mind-mk-remix
Marckinchen – Storm-queen-look-right-through
ROBOT KOCH:
“Robot Koch has a way of creating a highly lustful display of audio, stimulating both the body and mind. Berlin can be a tough city but Koch manages to bring out the best of its beauty through precise production style. Influencing and participating in a whole new perspective of dance music.” -Hew
Robot-koch – Robot-koch-feat-john-lamonica
Robot-koch – Death-star-droid
G JONES:
“West Coast homie & prolific producer G Jones has been dropping bangers non-stop for the last few years & there is no sign that he will be stopping anytime soon. With releases on Saturate Records, Robox Neotech, & Mallabel Music; his set will likely be all original pure west coast heat. Do not miss him if you want if you want to get your face melted off.” -QUARRY
Gjonesbass – Great-dane-daisy-g-jones-flip-free-download
Gjonesbass – Boeboe-low-key-g-jones-remix
KAYTRANADA:
“Kaytranada. No questions asked, be there for it. He is easily one of WTF’s most anticipated features this year. He spent most of 2014 touring internationally including dates with Disclosure, Grimes, Sango & Stwo. He has releases on HW&W Recordings with production credit for Portland’s very own Reva Devito & he will definitely have some tricks up his sleeve at WTF” -EASTGHOST
Kaytranada – At-all
Huhwhatandwhere – Kaytranada-seeu-enni-way
Huhwhatandwhere – Friday-night-prod-by-kaytranada
KYGO:
“Do you love sexy dance music? Then go see Kygo at What The Festival. You’ve probably never heard of him, but after one set, I’m sure you’ll click follow. If my word isn’t good enough, then maybe the 40 MILLIONS plays on his remix of “I See Fire” will give you an indicator that this 24 year old knows what he is doing. My suggestion? Grab your girl/guy/whoever and let the music work the rest. With remixes reaching from the XX, M83, James Blake Diplo, Aloe Blacc, and Passenger, the sounds may not be unfamiliar, but they will be pure vibes.” -Tyler Tastemaker
Kygo – Passenger-caravan-kygo-remix
Kygo – Kygo-laber-bris
TRIPPY TURTLE:
“Internet based Trippy Turtle is probably the number #1 artist to abuse the bed squeak sound that’s grown so popular but that’s okay. This Turtle has been turning out trippy Jersey club inspired sex music on the regular for the past year or so. Rumor has it that he’s Cashmere Cat’s BFF, and that definitely makes a lot sense given the quality of his productions. This will be his first time in Oregon, so don’t miss this opportunity.” -QUARRY
Trippy-turtle – Furthest-thing
Trippy-turtle – Wet
HEROBUST:
“Atlanta based producer heRobust has been primarily focused on creating glitch infused hiphop along side Hamburg’s Saturate Records. He has currently been focusing on big sound club music, bringing high energy and sensual breaks to his rather diverse live performances.” -Hew
Herobust – Swagriculture
Herobust – Triceratopless
RL GRIME:
*AIRHORN!!* with ‘trap’ music STILL being so prominent right now its no surprise that banger extraordinaire RL Grime is so busy this year. RL has been steadily dropping bangers and remixes since his debut release on Shlohmo’s WeDidIt imprint back in 2012. Continuously progressing and inspiring, RL Grime knows how to do what he’s always done while keeping it fresh. With some of the best sounding mixes in the game it’s safe to say there will be enough sub bass to blow your girlfriend’s skirt off during his set.” -cestladore
Rlgrime – Infinite-daps-baauer-rl-grime
Rlgrime – Die-4-me-rl-grime
